Southwest Airlines New Boarding Together Promo for Select Markets and How you Can Still Earn a Companion Pass with Ease

It is rather awkward to have you and your companion check-in on Southwest Airlines minutes apart, and have your companion board in the late B group when you have Group A.

Well as of yesterday, you no longer have to say that uncomfortable “See you in 30 minutes” before boarding and ditching them to get on the plane. Along with that“Is this seat taken?” or “This seat is saved” cringe-worthy conversations.

Southwest Airlines announced yesterday via email that they are launching a test promotion for flights from Denver (DEN) and Dallas (DAL). Those with who are Companion Pass holders can now board with their companions at the same time as long as they have the physical card to show at boarding. This starts now through 11/8. So, it is a very small window.

The email includes the following verbiage:

As a loyal Rapid Rewards® Member with Companion Pass, we're excited to share with you that from October 18 through November 8, we're conducting a test in your market that allows your Companion to board with you on your flight.

Here's what you need to know:

•Have your Companion stand with you at your assigned boarding position

•You must present your valid Companion Pass card along with your boarding pass to the gate agent at time of boarding

•Your Companion's name and the name on their boarding pass must match your Companion card

•Only flights between October 18 and November 8 are eligible

•Only flights departing from Denver or Dallas (Love Field) are eligible

This can be a great thing if they move forward beyond testing to a standard feature that comes with earning a companion pass. For now, I will take this as a win.

The bonus for personal cards are now down to 40k, but the business version is currently still at 60k. Which means you would have to spend 10k on your own to qualify. Not as easy as before, as now you have to spend 6k more, but still worth doing if you wish to have the pass for 2 full years.
