Try Lyft’s Round Up & Donate Program - Earn More Points and Give Back at the Same Time

If you haven’t used Lyft lately you may not have seen their new feature that enables you to round off your fare to the nearest dollar and the difference gets donated to one of 9 different charities.

This is a great thing as many of us can use this tool as a way to contribute to society with little to no effort.

Given that, for the most part, the fare difference is negligible to you, doing this would actually increase your points earnings.

As you know that most credit cards round down when offering you points for each dollar spent. So, if your fare was $29.99, you would earn points on essentially $29. So, having a card like the Chase Sapphire Reserve, you would lose out on 3 points. Negligible, I know…but scale it across multiple rides you may actually see a difference.

Or you can think of it this way…

You rounding up would give to charity and net you at minimum 3% back on the donation. (Using the same card example above)

If you decide you want to take advantage of this feature, go to your Lyft app’s settings and find the “Round Up & Donate” option.
