The New Champion of Everyday Spend: Amex Blue for Business Plus
I am shocked.
I have always been a proponent of using the Chase Freedom unlimited as your card of everyday spending. Of course, in conjunction with the Sapphire Reserve, your points earn 1.5 x 1.5 so a sum of 2.25% back on your dollars spent. This is the floor (minimum) as transferring to partners can exceed over 8%.
But today I am crowning the new king of everyday spend at that royal champion is the new AMEX BLUE for BUSINESS PLUS.
This card earns 2x on all dollars. No annual fee. ($50k in spend max to earn 2x)
Here is the math:
The card earns 2x membership reward points on every $1. This means that in conjunction with Amex Business Platinum 50% bonus, your card is effectively getting 4% back on regular purchases. Even with Business Platinum bonus going down to 35% back ... it's still 3.25% back on your spending.
Keep in mind when I use the word "back" I do not mean cash back. It means worth of travel on your preferred airline on Amex Business Platinum pay with points.
So if you wanted to be diverse in your points earning and maximize your earnings, you should use your Chase bonus cards (Sapphire Reserve, Ink, Regular Freedom) and use the New Blue for Business Plus on all purchases with no bonuses available.
